How to Format Your College Report Online

A complete guide to using ReportFormatter

Step 1 — Prepare Your Document

Before uploading, make sure your report is saved as a .docx file (Microsoft Word format). PDF files are also supported but .docx gives the best results.

• Save your file from Word: File → Save As → Word Document (.docx)
• Maximum file size: 50MB
• For best results, include your full report content starting from Chapter 1

Step 2 — Upload Your File

Go to the ReportFormatter homepage and drag your .docx file into the upload area, or click "Browse Files" to select it.

Step 3 — Choose Format Mode

Select the formatting standard that matches your college requirements:

• Standard — Times New Roman 12pt, 1.5 line spacing, 1-inch margins. Suitable for most VTU, Anna University, and general college reports.
• IEEE — Two-column format for research papers and conference submissions.
• Custom — Set your own font, size, spacing, and margins.

Step 4 — Format and Download

Click "Format Document". The tool will automatically:

• Fix all fonts to the selected family and size
• Set correct line spacing throughout
• Fix heading levels (Chapter → Section → Subsection)
• Set standard 1-inch margins
• Add page numbers in the footer
• Format tables with proper borders and alignment
• Resize oversized images to fit within margins

Processing takes 10–30 seconds depending on document size. Once done, download your formatted .docx file.
